Iyse
Gibson
Iyse
Gibson was born the only son of Rev. Oliver and Brenda Gibson
in St. Louis Missouri April 17th 19**. As an artist, writer
and composer (performing all the instrumentation) and producer,
it’s safe to say that music is in this young talent’s
blood. He gets it naturally. His father, Rev. Gibson, was extraordinarily
gifted musically, too. By age two, Iyse began to show signs
of musicianship. While attending his father’s Sunday services
he’d stand in the front pew, and “mimic and match”
the choir director. Waving his little arms exactly the way the
conductor would, he never missed a cue. Everyone watched in
amazement as he stopped and started with the music. Jaws dropped
even further when they realized he’d never seen nor heard
the choir and director perform the songs before. By age four,
Iyse’s mother and father had recognized his abilities
and began to make attempts to pinpoint his musical interests.
His father kept a piano and organ in the home at all times and
would play different chord progressions around Iyse to see how
he would respond. Sometimes Iyse would sing and create melodies,
other times he would climb into his father’s lap and try
to find his chords by ear. His mother, a musician in her own
right, had grown up around Stax Records in Memphis, Tennessee
and went on to become a background singer for artists Rufus
Thomas, Isaac Hayes and The Original Barkays. Her father and
uncles were all great jazz musicians. Their names can be found
inscribed on the walls of Beale Street. (Morris Steinberg, Luther
Steinberg, Lewie Steinberg, and Wilbur Brock Steinberg) So both
his parents were enthusiastic and major contributors in shaping
the young talent both instrumentally and vocally.
He
grew up listening to his father’s favorite musicians -
Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, B.B. King, but also gospel legends,
James Cleveland and Rance Alan. His later influences include
Prince and Michael Jackson, but Iyse’s style remains distinctly
unique. Whether it’s Hip-Hop or Neo-Soul, this artist
does it all. He writes, arranges, performs and produces his
own music. He’s been privileged to work with Willie Mitchell,
gain advice from David Porter and has met Al Green. He has also
worked with Archie Mitchell, the grandson of the producing legend
Willie Mitchell, Master P, Lil Romeo, Kia Shine, Big Tiny, and
many more. Iyse is presently working with Heal The Hood. This
is an organization that is dedicated to stopping the violence
throughout the world. Thru joint efforts of many different artist
Heal The Hood forms what is called The Wake Up Tour. Hip hop,
R&B, Rock, Dance, and Acting combine to create this power
house of entertainment! Hard work, determination, and patience
has brought him this far, but his undeniable talent stands alone
and sets him apart from most entertainers today. This young
man does it all!!! From producing, singing, dancing, composing,
and even acting!! This is surely just the beginning and we thank
you for being apart. He’s got music in his blood, and
his future is sure to be bright!
GOD
BLESS AND THANK YOU!
